The Coptic textiles, on the 2015 Serra d'Or Calendar
The Coptic textiles of the Museum of Montserrat - Soler Vilabella Collection illustrate the 2015 Serra d’Or Calendar, printed in Montserrat. The restoration of this impressive group of fabrics has allowed to organize this year a great archaeological exhibition at Montserrat, where these pieces -unpublished until now- have been showed for the first time. The temporary exhibition ends on November 10.
The new Serra d’Or Calendar is designed with high quality photos by Kronos Restorers, Dani Rovira and Gemma Rotger. The pictures show multiple details of the drawings and textile compositions of pieces like robes, hangings and curtains of centuries 3 to 8 AD.
The calendar, large format, is published annually by Publicacions de l’Abadia de Montserrat, the publishing house of the monastery. The article about the pieces is written by Montse Marín, curator of the Museum of Montserrat.
