The building

The Museum of Montserrat is located in architectonic spaces created between 1928 and 1933 by modernist architect Josep Puig i Cadafalch at the squares subsoil and at the monastery tower ground-work. One side is structured with beams and Vierendeel girders, and the other side with catalan vault. All the museum art collections are placed in this architectonic frame.

In 2023, it will be expanded with the new room "Montserrat s. XIV", where there are the remains of Montserrat's oldest buildings preserved in situ.
