Ephemera: Ingenious postcards
22 / 06 / 2026

At the beginning of the 20th century, postcards were not only used to send an image or a short message. Some included windows, movable parts, die-cut shapes, fold-outs or small paper mechanisms that turned the postcard into an interactive object.

This selection presents postcards that invite manipulation: pop-ups that create volume, images cut into unusual shapes, or calendars whose movable parts allow different dates to be consulted. They are a simple yet highly expressive example of the graphic and technical ingenuity achieved by this form of ephemeral art.
