During this June, at the Storage Room Insight, you will find Scriptures upon Scriptures (2005), by Carme Riera.


The artist’s early career was closely tied to textile design, a foundation that would significantly influence her artistic development. From 1976 onwards, she began to move away from traditional techniques, embarking on a path of open exploration with various artistic media. Along this journey, she experimented with the creative possibilities of materials, objects, words, signs, photographic images, and more. Her work draws inspiration from the external world (the sea, the land, the landscape), the internal world (personal experiences, stories), and the cultural and symbolic realms—often resulting in an ironic, metaphorical, symbolic, or even secretive character.


In this way, Carme Riera has become a multidisciplinary artist with a rich and singular trajectory. Her works possess a distinctive personality that defines her artistic identity and makes her path difficult to compare with those of other contemporary artists.
